Awards recognize responsible diamond leaders

New York--The Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) is honoring diamond industry leaders who make a difference with “The Good Awards.”

Scheduled for Jan. 5, 2012, in New York, the first Good Awards will recognize the Diamond Trading Co. and its Managing Director Varda Shine, Rio Tinto and its U.S. Vice President Rebecca Foerster, Sterling Jewelers and its Senior Vice President of Merchandising Ed Hrabak as well as Ivanka Trump and Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at The Empire Hotel Rooftop Bar & Lounge, with cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a program and special performance at 7:15 p.m. Individual tickets are $195 and journal and event ticket packages are available for $700.

Co-founded by music mogul and jewelry entrepreneur Russell Simmons, the DEF is a non-profit that seeks to raise money for education initiatives in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource.
