New York—Antiquorum's December 8 auction of "Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces" brought in a total $3.5 million, led by a collection of six FP Journe wristwatches that sold for $200,500.The "Invenit et Fecit" collection of FP Journe watches (lot 122) in platinum were among the 83 percent of the New York sale's 356 timepieces that sold by lot, with 119 percent selling by value, the auction house said.According to Antiquorum, bids came in from across the world, with 419 registered Internet bidders competing against telephone, room and commission bidders hailing from the United States, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Italy and the United Kingdom.Aside from the FJ Journe set, Greubel Forsey and Patek Philippe did exceptionally well, Antiquorum said. Greubel Forsey's "Double Tourbillon 30-Degree Vision" (lot 121) sold for $160,000, while Patek's ref. 3971 (lot 300) sold for $98,500. Additional Patek models to perform strongly included ref. 5146 in pink gold (lot 233), which fetched $27,500, and in white gold (lot 299), which fetched $26,875. Meanwhile, the brand's lapel watch (lot 28) attracted worldwide attention, selling for $21,250, nearly three times its high estimate.Other timepieces achieving outstanding results included Rolex ref. 6204 (lot 340), which sold for $57,500, three times its estimate; Audemars Piguet's "Royal Oak Jumbo 'A Series,'" which fetched $23,750, more than four times its high estimate; and Joe DiMaggio's Imexal clock (lot 272), which attained $13,125, over four times its low estimate.Antiquorum's next auction will take place Feb. 26 in Hong Kong.
