Las Vegas--Platinum Guild International (PGI-USA) has announced the first group of winners in its Platinum Innovation Challenge, a contest initiated to broaden consumer access to platinum jewelry by highlighting designs priced below $2,500 at retail.
A slate of judges, including editors, retailers, stylists and a casting specialist, reviewed 75 entries from more than 40 top brands during the JCK Las Vegas show, judging the designs based on their originality, creativity, quality, wearability and innovation.
The entry price-point categories featured in the competition included entry platinum engagement ring under $2,500 retail (semimounts), entry platinum wedding bands under $1,500 retail (men's and women's), entry platinum fashion under $2,500 (pendants, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, etc.) and entry platinum color under $2,500 (bridal or fashion featuring colored gemstones). One final category, platinum fashion over $2,500 (pendants, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, etc.), was broadened to encompass everything from mid-level price points to couture designs.
