Hong Kong is yet again the site of an auction that will offer a potential record-breaking diamond: a pear-shape, D-colour flawless diamond, which auction house Sotheby's says is the largest of its kind ever auctioned in Asia.
The 72.22-carat diamond, which was cut from an original rough diamond weighing 188.11 carats, is expected to fetch from US$9.5 to US$12.5 million when it is auctioned on April 10 at Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Sale to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The auction house added that the winning bidder will have the privilege of naming the stone.
